Never Leave Home Without Your Crown

Imagine with me for a moment…

What if you were a princess?

I’m not talking about the common modern-day definition of ‘princess’ in the sense that you have attitude of ‘it’s all about me’ and you act like everyone is beneath you and owes you something.  What I’m talking about is a full-blown ‘born into a royal family, your dad is the king of your country, your husband is going to be a prince’ type of princess.

Straight-up legit royalty.

How would you live differently than you do now?

Maybe you would walk just a little taller knowing that on top of your head sits a crown.  Maybe you would spend more time caring for the poor and helpless.  Maybe you would change the way you act and how you spend your time because you’re held to a higher standard.  And maybe, just maybe, you would expect more from the men who are pursuing you.

Perhaps you would expect them to approach you as royalty, a daughter of the king.  They are, after all, trying to win your heart, your father’s approval, and make you their queen…right?  So why shouldn’t they treat you as such?

Now what if we weren’t just imagining that this could be true for you?  What if royalty was not just a far-off dream that only skinny brunettes in England got to live out?

Buckle your seat belt sister because I’m about to rock your world.

If you have asked Jesus to come and live in your heart, you have been adopted into God’s family.  That means you are His daughter.  Daughters of a king are princesses, and princesses receive an inheritance.  If you’re just a friend of the family, you don’t get that inheritance.  I don’t know about you, but I want in on whatever God’s going to pass down to His kids.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:3-5

Uh…yeah…where do I sign?

The King of heaven and earth loves His daughters and He will make sure they are taken care of, respected, and loved…even to the point of death.  So don’t you think He cares about how men treat them too?  I know He does.  Any man that you allow to pursue your heart must love God first and foremost, because only then can he have the capacity to honor and care for you as God intended.  If he truly does this and seeks God’s face earnestly, then everything else will follow accordingly.

If you’re a princess you wear a crown, right?  In this world, it’s an invisible crown (most days), and Godly men will be able to see your invisible crown.  When they see it they will know that you are a woman to be pursued with the utmost respect and love, under the protection of your heavenly King and theirs.  Even if you’ve never been treated as God’s princess, your heart and mind recognize it and you will know whether or not you are receiving it.  But if you’re unsure, ask God to show you if you’re allowing yourself to be pursued in any way less than you deserve.

Right now if you’re thinking “I don’t deserve to be treated as a princess after the things I’ve done.  I’m so ashamed of myself and I don’t feel like I’m good enough to wear a crown.”  Girl, I’ve SO been there.  I’ve felt shame and guilt like they were the only feelings that existed and let me tell you that you deserve ALL that God has for you and He can make you new and clean.  So don’t give up on me now…keep reading.

{I think it’s very important to note here that just because a man is the first one to treat you as God’s daughter, doesn’t necessarily mean that he is meant to be your husband.  Submit your heart to God and He will lead you in the way that you should go.}

Jesus put on display for the world to see what the ultimate romantic gesture looks like when He died on the cross for you.  He died for you so that you would know what true love is.  He died so that you could be free to love Him and have a life full of victory and joy.  He died so that you could spend eternity with Him in heaven.  He died so that you could be His precious, beautiful, pure, royal daughter.

Don’t settle for anything less than what Jesus paid for you to have.

So now I present you with a question: are you a daughter of the King or just a friend of the family?

If you’re just a friend but want to be a princess, you can change that right here, right now.  God gives YOU the choice.  If you want to be the princess that God created you to be, the daughter that He’s always wanted, you can be.  All you have to do is believe in your heart and confess out loud with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.  Ask Him to come and live in your heart and change your life.

if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:9-13

If you pray for Jesus to come into your heart, let someone know that can celebrate with you!

“Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.”  Matthew 10:32

Today can be the day that you step into your rightful inheritance and receive the crown of righteousness and glory that God has always wanted to give you, and He can bring into your life the man that will pursue your heart the way it was meant to be pursued.

And on your wedding day, you won’t have a doubt in your mind that the man standing at the altar smiling at you through his tears is thanking God for entrusting him with the incredible gift of His most precious daughter…you.
