Princess Day

crowningToday, all the Embrace Grace Gateway leaders are busily getting ready for the grand finale of the semester, Princess Day. We are pulling out all the sparkle and pink we have for decor, jewelry, and more!

The girls have received a beautiful invitation requesting their presence for a night with the King. They come in comfy clothes but bring a nice dress to change into (the leaders bring a lot too if they don’t have one). When they arrive, they are greeted by a hair and make-up team that get started on making them look and feel beautiful on the outside. Once finished with their pampering, we spend time with them individually telling them how much we love them and how beautiful they are on the inside. Over the course of the semester, we have seen these girls gifts and talents, those unique qualities God placed in each one of them and we get a chance to point them out. I’m always surprised that a lot of them, have never seen those qualities in themselves.

We have a special time of crowning. It is Princess Day, afterall. We get our mirror out and show them how beautiful they are. We want them to ingrain this memory in their minds. We want them to remember WHO and WHOSE they are … and in doing so, we hope and pray that they never forget it, even when their friends may speak ugly to them, or their family members shame them, or their bosses speak down to them, when the world tries to dig it’s ugly claws in, may they never forget that they are born for a purpose with an amazing destiny, that they are knitted together by a God that loves them so much, that they don’t have to settle for 2nd best, that they are worthy, beautiful and amazing!

When girls really get it, REALLY get it. When they understand that they are priceless in the eyes of their Heavenly Father, that’s when everything changes. That’s when their desire for intimacy with God happens. That’s when their heartbeat lines up with God’s heartbeat. That’s when they want to save sex until marriage. That’s when they start letting go of the dead weight in their life and pursuing the calling God has for them. That’s when they hope and dream again. That’s when everything changes.

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,[a] a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” {1 Peter 2:9}

We can give a list of right’s and wrongs to these girls or to our own circle of friends and family, but most likely nothing will ever change. But if we encourage and inspire the people around us to fall in love with Jesus and they act on it, it changes EVERYTHING.

We all are a princess (or prince). We are royalty not by what we do, how we act, or the crown we wear on our head … it’s by who we ARE. By Whose’ we are. We all have a unique purpose and destiny. We can show everyone around us in our own special way, the value in each other. By loving like that, it changes the world.

As we shower with love our Princesses in Embrace Grace, I want to encourage you to do the same today to someone in your own life that maybe has lost hope. It’s fun!
